Themed boxes are so much fun! Packing boxes alone always makes me happy, but their is something special about always being on the lookout for certain themed items. Currently I am making two dino boxes and I thought that you guys might want some ideas for if you want to make your own. I will share my actual boxes when they are complete, but in the mean time, I made box ideas from the Dollar Tree. All things there are a dollar, so if it is less than a dollar that is because it can be purchased in a pack. This box was designed for a boy aged 5-9. This box costs $8.64 in total plus tax and it has all of the essentials: soap, toothbrush, pencils, pencil sharpener, paper, and a stuffy. It also has some extra school supplies in the form of bonus erasers and it also has two washcloths. It has a coloring set and some stickers for the child to be creative with, and a dino toy and ball for entertainment. Just add a personal note and it is good to go! What do you think? Have you ever made a themed box?

I am constantly adding to my OCC stockpile. Between deals, freebies, and finding new yet unwanted things in my home, I can accumulate quite a collection in a month. Here are the items that I have collected in the moth of July. During a quick Dollar Tree run this month, I grabbed this cute color-your-own dino bag. The bag's quality isn't the greatest, but I do think that it will hold up for a while. During that same trip to the Dollar Tree, I found this cute dino. He will go in my second dino box. Target had these cute lego sets for only $1 in the dollar section. Each has 72 bricks and they are actually great quality! I moved them from their original packaging into these bags so that the kids have somewhere to store them. I got these pencils and pens from clearing out my office. Brand new! This little paddle ball was an arcade prize. I double knotted the string in the back to make sure it stays on. I found these three Chick-fil-a toys in the car and they are too old to trade for ice cream. I know that the book is going to OCC because it has lots of pictures. However, the table topics are all in English so I think that they will only go if I need to fill a crack in a box. I collected some crayons from restaurants. I have a few more sets not pictured. All of these sets are melt proof as well. They were left in the car for a few days. I got some stickers. The dog is from the doctor that my brother got as a reward for not crying during shots. The roll is from Trader Joe's. My brother and I always ask for stickers and we save the few that they give us for OCC. This time, my mom told the man that we do save them for OCC and the man offered us the whole roll. Now all of the girl's boxes can get a set of flower stickers. I stayed at a hotel for a volleyball camp and I picked up these two bars of soap. I got two (one pictured) of these Christmas shirts from Marshalls. Each was only 50 cents and they are size 4 toddler. They are perfect for 2-4 boxes! This price shows just how much you can save if you check for deals everywhere. I never would have expected to find 50 cent shirts from Christmas time in July, but I did and I couldn't be happier! I got two shirts for the price of one Dollar Tree shirt, so two kids can now have something nice to wear. That is what I have for July. Other things were posted in other hauls this month, and I will have a vacation haul coming soon!
Deals are sometimes very hard to find. Always looking around is the best way to find them, but sometimes a little bit of help is a welcome surprise. This deal alert is for flip flops and small toys. Flip flops are a great thing to include in boxes because they are less size specific than closed-toe shoes. Many kids that receive boxes don't have any shoes are have very worn-out shoes. Michael's Craft Store, a nation wide store, is clearing out their flip flops at 50% off, making them only $0.50 a pair. Along with their summer clearance, Michael's is clearing out part of their toy section. I have checked multiple Michael's and they all have some wind up toys, balls, and painting sets (they only have dry paint so they are appropriate for boxes) on clearance for $0.50. I got this wind up dino for my dino box. Have you seen any deals lately that might be available to others? Please comment if you have!
Last week, I went to Walmart and I found one of my best finds yet. It was a surprise egg left over from Easter...and it was only $0.10! I was so excited to open it that I took the picture still inside Walmart! I couldn't believe that it was still there from Easter. Inside of the egg was this cute little plush puppy clip. He will make a great addition to a box! I also saved the egg to use as a soap dish in a box. It was plenty big and really sturdy. That was my fun find. What have you found recently?
Who doesn't love to color? I personally love coloring and like to include coloring books in my OCC boxes. When space in a box is an issue, small coloring books are much better. I made a printable coloring book to use in my boxes and I figured that you guys might enjoy adding it to your boxes. This one is perfect for an Angry Birds themed box or a box for a 2-4 year old boy! Simply print the attached PDF below using your printer's double sided setting, then use the directions seen here to make it into a booklet. I used some bright and sturdy yellow paper for a cover. Don't forget to pack some crayons!
*Note* I do not own any of the pictures used in this coloring book. All pictures taken from Google Images*
